Lyrics

Lal Waterson sings Marvellous Companion

He’s hoping it stays fine, he’s got one eye on the skyline,
Are you’s hoping It stays fine, with your one eye on the skyline?
If it follows you need what you find then it follows that leaves me behind,
For he’s having a bad time with your one eye on the skyline.

If he’s having a bad day, yay, yay, he kneels down and starts to pray,
If he’s having a bad day then he kneels down and starts to pray.
And if it follows he know what to say then it follows I’ll leave him that way
But I’m having to turn away when he kneels down and starts to pray.

He’s trying to save our souls with his mouth to the confession hole.
And holding his guarantee with his right hand on his rosary,
Trying to find some fix with his left hand on his crucifix.
And then there’s his book on his knee, and it follows there’s no room for me,
He’s hell of a company with his right hand on his rosary.

He’s hoping it stays fine, eating his bread and drinking his wine,
And hoping to see some sign, and having a hell of a time keeping one eye on the skyline.
