French Stroller

Waterson:Carthy played this hornpipe on their second album Common Tongue. This track was reissued in 2003 on the Eliza Carthy anthology The Definitive Collection. Martin Carthy said in the original recording’s sleeve notes:

French Stroller is an English hornpipe in 3/2 time. The dance is long lost I believe, but quite a number of tunes survive in manuscript and very beautiful some of them are.
