High School Confidential

[Jerry Lee Lewis, Hargrave]

Richard Thompson, vocals, guitar;
Gerry Conway, drums;
Pat Donaldson, bass;
Ian Whiteman, piano;
Roger Bell, saxophone

The Bunch’s recorded High School Confidential during their Rock On recording sessions at The Manor, Oxfordshire in January 1972. It wasn’t released on the orignal 1972 LP but was finally included on the album’s 2003 CD reissue.

The Bunch was an ad hoc collection of “Fairport family” members who gathered together to record this collection of rock’n’roll songs. Apparently the reason behind the recording was to test the newly-opened Manor Studios.

Lyrics

The Bunch sing High School Confidential

Open up honey
It’s your lover boy me that’s knockin’
Won’t you listen to me sugar
All the cats are at the High School boppin’
Well honey get your boppin’ shoes
Before the juke box blows a fuse
Got everbody hoppin’ everybody boppin’
Boppin’ at the High School Hop

Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Shakin’ at the High School Hop
I’ve been movin’ at the High School Hop
Well everybody hoppin’, everybody boppin’
Boppin’ at the High School Hop

Well, come on little sugar
Let’s shake a little bit tonight
Ooh come on baby
Let’s move it up tonight
Well my heart beats the rhythm
My feet are moving smooth and light

Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Shakin’ at the High School Hop
Rollin’ at the High School Hop
Well everybody hoppin’, everybody boppin’
Boppin’ at the High School Hop

Well come on little baby
I’m gonna give you some good news
Ooh come on baby
I’m gonna blow out that shoes
Well my heart beats the rhythm
And my soul is singin’ the blues

Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Boppin’ at the High School Hop
Shakin’ at the High School Hop
Rollin’ at the High School Hop
Well everybody hoppin’, everybody boppin’
Boppin’ at the High School Hop
